I have read that unlocked phones are best used with Cingular and Tmobile. Surely we can't be stuck in the dark ages just because we have Sprint. My husband really likes Nokia phones, and they are not listed at all on Sprint.com. Help!

Sprint is CDMA while TMo and Cing are GSM. You may have get TMo and Cing service if you like "unlock" Nokia phones.

Sprint (and Verizon) use a different technology than T-Mobile and AT&T does. Sprint and Verizon use CDMA, while T-Mobile and AT&T use GSM. The two technologies are incompatible with each other. So while you could use an unlocked device on either T-Mobile or AT&T, you cannot use an AT&T or T-Mobile device on either Sprint or Verizon. Sorry.

unfortunately you have to use a phone that is sprint compatible and that means sprint phones only. they don't use sim cards like the others do. i hate sprint but i am locked in til july. i refuse to give them any more money than i have to so when i need a new phone i go to radio shack. they sell new and reconditioned phones for much much less than sprint does and all you have to do with the new phone is call sprint and tell them you want to do a ESN change. give them the new serial number and your number will tranfer to the new phone without upgrading your contract to a new 1 or 2 year one.
