Thought buying new battery would solve problem of battery discharging so soon. Do I need to buy a nokia battery?

You need to take the phone back to the carrier that you got it from and tell them what is happening. It may not be the battery at all and they would be able you figure it out. Good Luck.

In your manual says... USE ONLY ORIGINAL NOKIA ACCESORIES... ;)
Try with a original battery... if it doesn't work, then there may be a problem with the terminals
