I have Nokia 6280 which was used in Australia for 2 years and now being used in India. The network used in Australia was Planet 3. In India i am using Aitrel.
Im getting very low talk time, about 45-60 mins, and standby about 14 hours without talking much, when fully charged. The same phone was giving much talktime and standby time also in Australia. Why could this be. Please suggest to improve talktime and battery life. Has it something to do with software. Please suggest.

As u might already know the rechargeable batteries have a certain chemical inside that can hold a charge and regain the charge by adding electricity. over time these chemicals( usually nickel and cadium) lose potency. The best way to extend the life is to periodically drain the battery completly dead, and then recharge it fully. most take several hours to actually recharge and if u take them off too soon it can reduce their potency. always leave your battery to charge for a couple of hours, dont always trust what the phone say. and i dont think this has any thign to do with eithr the network or the phones software or hardware, if the problem still exists than the best option would be to get a new battery!
