Article by Jerry Smith

HTC used to be one of those never-heard-of mobile phone manufacturers, but with the quality and innovation that many of their phone releases have, they are slowly getting more and more popular and starting to make an impression on the already over-saturated mobile phone market/HTC used to be one of those unknown mobile phone manufacturers, but now has been slowly getting more and more popular and making an deep impression on the already over-saturated mobile phone market, owing to the quality and innovation that many of their phone releases have.

One of the phones HTC has released recently is the HTC Legend, which belongs to another of HTC's line of smartphones. And from the looks of it, it is a very promising device indeed.

Build Quality and Aesthetics

It is very noteworthy to begin the dissection of this gadget with its very exceptional build quality - at demo at the Mobile World Conference - the presenter banged it against a wall, without it sustaining any seeming defect. The rationale behind is that the aluminium unibody the Legend is employing, damage is minimized, if not totally eliminated. The reason is that the Legend is employing the aluminium unibody - which if not totally eliminate - will help minimize damage. Now, that's tough, especially since the phone we are talking about here is a touch screen.

And while the speaker is a bit high, calls come in loud and clear.

Seeing What's Inside

The boss running the show inside the legend is a very respectable Qualcomm MSM 7227 600 MHz Central Processing Unit with 384 MB of RAM. It also runs on the very stable Android OS version 2.1. Battery life is also good at about 7 hours of talk time and 440 up to 530 hours of standby, depending if you are using 3G or just 2G. The Downside

No phone is perfect though, and the Legend, while impressive overall, suffers from a number of issues. One is that it would be better if it had video calling capabilities. The camera, while easy to use, unfortunately has no dedicated outside key or button. As mentioned, Wi-Fi connectivity leaves something to be desired, and to add insult to injury, Flash and Flash support is barely supported/Nothing is perfect, the Legend, while impressive overall, also suffers from a number of issues. One is that it lacks of video calling capabilities. The another is that the camera of this phone has no dedicated outside key or button. As mentioned above, Wi-Fi connectivity leaves something to be desired and Flash is barely supported.

In Conclusion

We can safely say that the HTC Legend truly deserves its name, given the many features and nifty little thingamajigs both in the hardware and software. The user interface is easy to learn and everything will be like a walk under the moon once you've managed to get things down pat. The Legend does have some flaws, but hardly enough to warrant it being less than the above average mobile phone touch screen. It's a great phone, pros and cons and all, and is something someone who is looking for a good touch screen mobile phone might do well to seek out.
