My battery in my nokia mobile doesn´t last very long and I have to charge it very regularly. I know I probably need a new battery but I am waiting to get a new mobile.
My question is.... I noticed the battery was inflated the other day and its starting to bulge out of the phone! Is it dangerous to carry on using it??

Mine did that on a Sony Ericsson. I already had my new phone so i wasn't really bothered. No idea what causes it or if it is dangerous or anything. This is a pretty pointless answer i know, sorry.

its not dangerous to carry it. its not going to explode or anything :) it is a sure sign that your battery is going bad though. a good way to examine your battery is to remove it from the phone and lay it on a flat counter top. then try to spin it. if it spins freely (obviously this means it is bulging towards the center), then its going bad. if it doesnt spin, you are still good to go!!

This happened to my son from leaving his phone on the charger all night. It ended up damaging his phone and it wouldn't work anymore.

The plates within your battery have started to separate. This will lead to increased internal resistance within the battery and subsequently effecting performance.
This is not uncommon to see this happen in the Nokia BL-5CA battery. If you have a BL-5C, google Nokia Battery recall, you may be entitled to a replacement.
Theoretically your battery could keep expanding and thus explode or leak. Avoid any contact with water if you notice any breaks. What should happen is the outer case will keep expanding without cracking, you may have problems getting the back cover on.
