i just got a htc mytouch but it wont work?

i just got a htc mytouch but it wont work?the htc mytouch 3g wont read my sim card?
i just got it and my plan has unlimited internet, calling and texting?
help?

try taking it in and out, make sure the sliver holder is locked in place, you can tell if it is or not. If not take it back to the store
