I want to unlock it because i can get a much better internet price plan with o2 or vodaphone, i have heard however that unlocking the G1 can cause it to loose its capabilities to download apps from the online store and most of the features become locked.
Is this true?

i think you shouldn't because i think it will cause problems with the the phone itself and the phone will act up. ..just leaving it alone is enough but the thing about the G1 is that it has alot of problems that have not yet been fixed and i am planning to get a Sidekick Lx 2009.
