i can transfer stuff using windows explorer but nor does ovi suite,pc suite or software updater detect the mobile. It can be detected by the comp but not the softwares. I re-installed all the latest versions but still no use. plz help !!!!

Try changing the detecting mode. Maybe is set to "mass storage", and the computer detects your phone as an usb stick. Change it to "Ovi Suite / Nokia PC Suite". This can be made by entering settings menu, connectivity. Hope it helps.
