How to unlock HTC phones?
Article by Linda Cander
HTC mobile phones are rapidly rising in popularity today. This is due to the revolutionary and appealing features, which entices users to purchase these phones. With features such as HD video recording / playback, sharp surround sound technology and instant Wi-Fi hotspot, who wouldn't be tempted to buy one?
Of course, to maximize your HTC phone's capabilities, you'll need to have a mobile operator. While there are many mobile partners in every country, there is sure to be a good mobile operator, one that is much better than the rest in terms of offers and services.
However, many mobile partners have exclusive contracts on a certain mobile manufacturer(s). This means that should you purchase a mobile phone from them, for instance, an HTC Thunderbolt, you are only allowed to use the SIM provided by that company, and any other SIM will be blocked by the phone and won't be used. This poses a problem to those who wish to go to their preferred mobile operator, as the mobile operator that sells the device they desire does not offer their desired services.
Luckily, there's a strategy to have your cellphone be able to use other SIM , without having your mobile phone blocking the new SIM . This method is known as unlocking.
It is easy to unlock HTC desire cell phones, and some other cell phones also, and it may only take a few minutes of your time. You only need to follow several basic instructions and you'll have your cell phone unlocked and ready to use (with your preferred company) in no time at all !
To get this done, you must first turn off your mobile phone and look for the IMEI number, that's generally located on the back of your mobile phone (battery slot), or on the box (there should be a slip detailing all the necessary information, like the IMEI number). Additionally, you may try this command:
"*#06#"
This, without the quotes, should be entered in your HTC phone. This will return a 15-digit number output, which is the unique IMEI number of your mobile phone. This IMEI number is very important, as this is necessary for the unlock HTC desire code, which will be used to unlock your HTC mobile phone.
Next thing to do is to contact your mobile partner company and ask them for the corresponding unlock code. Many companies would be willing to give you the unlock code, provided that you've met their specifications. But, most companies won't supply you with the unlock code, as unlocking your cell phone means automatically canceling your contract with them, meaning you will not need to pay for their services anymore. In effect, they'd lose the phone and they'd suffer a loss in profits from you. This is undesirable for them, obviously.
In the event that they do not give you the unlock code, you may always download an application that would give you the unlock code for your cell phone. Beware though, as many applications have viruses and trojans inside them, so make sure that you download it from a safe and reliable site.
After downloading the software, you only need to enter your IMEI number and have the application produce the corresponding unlock code for your phone. After you have the unlock code, power on your mobile phone, but using another SIM instead. The cell phone will then show the screen where you have to put the unique 8-digit unlock code. Enter the code, confirm, and voila! Your cell phone is now unlocked!
Surely, there are times that the code may not work. If this happens, download another application as HTC and some other mobile phone companies often change their algorithm in producing said 8-digit code.
Now that you have your cell phone unlocked, you can now enjoy the benefits of your chosen mobile partner, without spending extra.
