i bought a phone battery off the high street retailer he told me that it was an original nokia battery, i thought not after a few day the battery exploded and burnt my phone trouser and my leg, i want to sue the retailer for the above damages i would like to ask if that is possible.

Your problem is, WHO actually made the battery? If the battery exploded because of a manufacturing defect, AND the manufacturer did NOT issue a recall or a warning this might happen, then YES, you can sue the manufacturer. Your problem is finding out if any of this happened and then finding the actual manufacturer. The retailer is innocent of any wrongdoing if the retailer is simply acting as a wholesaler and reselling a product made by someone else. My advice, contact a lawyer.

If the battery is not a real nokia, then the sale was fraud and you could sue the retailer. If it was, check for a recall. If recalled, sue the store. Sue Nokia. If you can sue Nokia, you have the best chance to settle. Honestly, try to get a new phone, pants and medical cost. There is no big money here.
