I currently have:
Intel P4 540 Prescott 3.2Ghz processor
1.3GB RAM
240GB HDD
GeForce MX440 64MB Nvidia video card
17'' LCD monitor
DVD Writer
CD writer
I originally got this system for 400$ , and I currently have
290$ in savings, I was wondering whether I should update my seriously outdated Video Card, and get 2x2GB RAM Sticks they cost around 17$ here. But I also want to buy a Nokia N79. What do you guys think? update PC or buy N79?
PS: I can buy a refurbished N79 for 290$ . if I'd update my rams it'll cost 34$ and video card around 70$ . what do you think?
Edit: rate my current PC from 1-10.
what if I'd update it? rate from 1-10
I game a bit: GTA san andreas, Half Life 2, True Crime NYC, Battlefield two. The point is I intend to use it for gaming, multimedia, and internet usage.
I'm 15 so I'm totally broke, those 290$ is all I have. I don't have a job and I don't intend on getting one

Buy a new phone, save up some more for a computer next year.

Ratings-
Current-Around 2.5-3/10
Weak processor
Poor video card
RAM is ok though it could use more
Upgraded-3.5/10
Weak processor
If you're going to upgrade,
1. Get an AGP graphics card. It looks like you're using either an AGP or PCI card.
2. Don't get more than 3GB of RAM. Otherwisie you need to change to a 64 bit operating system as 32 bit operating systems only recognize up to 3.2GB.
I would say get the phone. It's more worth it just to get a new computer later on.

I would save up, and wait until you can buy a new machine, for ~500.

Get the phone if you just have to spend the money...
You computer is fine. Sure it's a few years old, but honestly, not much has happened that really changes any user experience unless A) you're into PC gaming or B)you do something that benefits from multiple threads...like if you're into content creation with photoshop, Premiere or encoding video files.
If you want to do the computational intensive stuff I mentioned, getting a dual core processor (along with motherboard and new memory) and a new graphics card what's required. That's basically a new system and more than 290.
Your computer is a 5 if a 1 is a Pentium-90 running Win 98 and a 10 is the latest i7Core quad core chip running ddr3 memory, a solid state drive, and two of the the latest X2 version Radeon's in crossfire (meaning 4 gpu's).
Your system is perfectly capable which is a testament to how stuck in a rut the PC market is.
I wouldn't buy the phone either, unlike PC's phones are vastly improving practically by the minute. Don't put money into a phone until you get wi-fi, html web-browsing, video recording, several gigs of music storage, and a big display. The iPhone does most of that, everyone else is trying to catch up (and they will soon).
