The raised line on the battery door is misleading. Ignore it. Hold the phone with the back cover facing you and with the bottom of the phone pointing skyward. Place both thumbs in the middle (horizontal center) of the back and both forefingers on what is now the new "top" of the phone. With both thumbs, and using firm pressure, press inward--like you're trying to "squish" the phone - -and "upward" at the same time. Use your forefingers to retain the phone. The cover will pop "upward" and off.
