im not interested in using the internet with it, just messaging and calling. and if i dont buy the data plan can i still go to the app store?

Nokia 5800 should work on Tmobile. Idk if you are on Tmobile USA, UK or what have you but all Tmobile networks should be compatible with this model.
Generally, most apps stores on most phones with most carriers do not necessarily require web to get apps. I am not 100% if this applies to Tmobile.
