I am using Idea sim & want to activate the GPRS service in my Mobile Handset Nokia 1600. I want to know the benefits of GPRS

First make sure whether it supports GPRS well or nt
regarding GPRS(General Packet Radio Service), it enables the user to access the internet using the operator service.It is the first technology to converge internet with GSM / other mobile telephony applications, though its disadvantage is that it offers lower speeds <10kbps..depends on operator and the location you are.etc
the end user advantage is that we can access internet, check mails use IM etc.,but in the small screen of the mobile device
If u r interested, Be cautious of the tariff plans etc beforehand.
also the speeds are damn slow, so u need enough patience
also take care that u have better mobile handset(N1600 may not support .check it once)
