So I'm looking at buying a nokia N79 on ebay at the moment, the only ones that are for sale are nokias from hong kong, I don't doubt their authenticity, I'm just wondering if there are any quality issues etc i have to worry about.
And could anyone tell me how muh this phone is to buy from a shop in Aus?

buy from aus for two reasons

1) because it is local and you can at least contact the seller easily if anything goes wrong

2) you know well how buying things from hong kong can go wonkadrops

Yes, but it depends where you go.

TST is known to have some sketchy products (basically any store with a flashing neon sign "SONY" or "NIKON" should be avoided - these are tourist traps.). Of course, not EVERY thing sold there is fake, but you definitely want to be aware that it is very common for these sellers to disassemble brand name products and outfit them with generic parts. These are likely to break.

If you want to be safe, you should shop at a reputable store ("Fortress" and "Broadway" are well known). It's more costly but the quality is guaranteed and you can probably get a warranty.

Really, it's like a lot of other things you buy in Hong Kong. If it's cheap, it's cheap for a reason. But hey, sometimes cheap works.
